Saddle is being built by Tom Carrington Smith, often known as TCS. He spent 15 years building software in companies, previously building HR software. He cares a lot about the software he uses as a tool for work, and wants to build tools that enable people to do their greatest work.

We don’t have access to your emails. Saddle was built using Gmail’s own service. You can think of Saddle like a remote control for Gmail. The app on your phone connects directly to the Gmail APIs to download emails, mark emails as unread, or search emails.

Unlike many email apps, we don’t store any copies of your emails in the cloud or on anyone else’s servers. Everything happens on your phone, between you and Gmail, just like using the official Gmail app. This is by design, to keep your emails private and secure. Every year, Google reviews our app to certify us as trusted developers. The full picture is in our privacy policy.

Everything we build runs on your iPhone, mainly using the latest Apple Intelligence models on your phone, not someone else’s servers. We use Apple Intelligence on your phone as much as we can, and we lean on Siri as far as it will go. By default, everything is done on your phone, and it stays private there.

If you choose to, you can delegate work to ChatGPT, Claude or other AI agents. Nothing leaves your device until you make that decision.

During early access, Pro is $99 a year at the founding price, or $12 a month. To be honest, we’re still working out our pricing for the App Store release.

Saddle is meant to be a premium paid product. That lets us support our customers for many years to come. We’re an independent business, and we’re not beholden to the whims of venture capital. Enterprise is custom if you need invoices, contracts, or a team plan.
